The Muddy River Schoolhouse

Until 1932 the Muddy River Schoolhouse - the last one room school in Wallingford - was the grammar school for hundreds of town residents. When its original site was about to be flooded as part of a reservoir expansion, it was dragged down the road to the Williams' farm for use as a storage shed.

In 1998 the Trust saved the school from demolition by dismantling the building and storing it for later reconstruction. It will be rebuilt at the Kilshire Farm site, and will offer a multimedia presentation about nineteenth century American Education.
